19th December 2024: India is set to introduce 6G telecom services in the near future, with research currently underway at IIT-BHU by experts in the field. The 6G network is expected to be operational by 2030, offering speeds 100 times faster than 5G, according to Rajesh Kumar Pathak, India’s 6G chief.
Unlike 5G, which requires large towers in urban and rural areas, 6G will feature small sensors installed on road lights and electric poles, making it more efficient and cost-effective. These sensors, weighing up to 8 kilograms, will form the backbone of the 6G infrastructure.
India has followed the global trend by adopting 4G and 5G technologies, but with 6G, the country is poised to lead the world in telecommunications. Indian IT experts are already engaged in advanced research, and by 2030, India aims to be among the top global leaders in 6G technology, putting the nation at the forefront of global technological advancements.
