Bhubaneswar, Dec 19: Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik inaugurated Sargiful-2024, a three-day annual festival, at Adivasi Ground on Wednesday. The event, organized by the ST&SC Development, Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare Department, aims to showcase the talent and creativity of students from the ST and SC communities.

Addressing the gathering, Naik, a tribal community member, highlighted the significance of the Sargiful or sal flower, which tribals have historically used as both food and for worship. He emphasized the festival’s goal of providing a platform for students to display their inherent talents and potential.
During the event, Naik honored several students with cash prizes of ₹5,000, certificates, and books. Awardees included Mili Tudu, Suprabha Naik, Mahesh Mahar, Nandini Naik, Chumki Naik, Lovely Naik, Krishna Tudu, Suneli Pradhan, Rashmita Bhatra, and Kabita Gamang from various districts.
Additionally, a state-level science exhibition was inaugurated, featuring workshops on ocean ecosystem conservation, eco-friendly environments, AI, and space research. The festival aims to nurture the skills of tribal students and promote their contributions to various fields.
