Daspalla, July 10 [UDN}: A grand Van Mahotsav (Forest Festival) was organized by the Daspalla Forest Division with the support of Daspalla Sambad Sahitya Ghar. On this occasion, a plantation drive was carried out on vacant government land located at the foothills of the famous Hari Om Hill in Daspalla with the objective of creating a green forest cover in the area.
As part of the initiative, around 6,000 saplings of mango, jackfruit, lemon, amla, neem and other varieties will be planted at the site. Daspalla Range Officer Srinibas Das informed that a total of 61,000 saplings are planned to be planted across the range during the current plantation season.
The programme was attended by SDFO Aisa Akhtari Nisha, Sahitya Ghar President Santosh Kumar Sahu, Editor Narayan Sahu, Coordinator Prafulla Kumar Panda (Bapi), Dr. Anuryami Bhuiyan, Dr. Prafulla Kumar Das, along with foresters and forest guards working under the forest division.
The event commenced after traditional rituals and पूजा ceremonies were performed according to local customs. Despite heavy rainfall caused by a low-pressure system, participants enthusiastically joined and extended their support to the programme. At the end of the event, Range Officer Srinibas Das expressed his gratitude to everyone for their cooperation and participation.
The plantation drive reflects the growing commitment of local communities and the Forest Department towards environmental conservation, increasing green cover, and promoting ecological balance in the region.
