Koraput:, July 10 [UDN}: A virtual review meeting was held under the chairmanship of the District Collector to ensure safe drinking water in schools and hostels and to safeguard the health of students.
The meeting was attended by officials from the Health, Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RWSS), and Education Departments, along with 132 headmasters and headmistresses. Discussions focused on regular water quality testing, chlorination, and the maintenance of water purification systems.
Keeping the monsoon season in view, extensive deliberations were also held on the prevention of water-borne and seasonal diseases such as malaria, dengue, and diarrhoea. The meeting emphasized the use of LLIN mosquito nets and discussed primary management measures for snake bites and dog bites.
Giving the highest priority to the health and safety of students, the District Collector directed all concerned departments to work in close coordination and immediately undertake the necessary preventive measures.
