Koraput: Aug 31 [UDN}:The town of Koraput is gearing up to celebrate Local Self-Government Day with a renewed and attractive look. The Koraput Municipality has undertaken several innovative initiatives focusing on beautification, improved public facilities, better opportunities for local businesses and development of new infrastructure.
On the occasion of Local Self-Government Day on July 31, several new projects and facilities are scheduled to be dedicated to the people of Koraput. Among them, the newly constructed ‘Namaste’ statue near Government Women’s College will be inaugurated. The statue is expected to enhance the beauty of the town and emerge as a new landmark, attracting the attention of visitors and commuters.
The municipality is also taking steps to provide better facilities for local traders and small businesses. Stalls located near Jagannath Temple Square and Kendriya Vidyalaya are also scheduled to be inaugurated. These facilities are expected to provide local vendors and small entrepreneurs with better opportunities to conduct their businesses in an organised manner and strengthen their livelihoods.
Similarly, the newly constructed Kalyan Mandap at Pujariput in Koraput will be opened to the public on Local Self-Government Day. The facility will provide residents with a convenient venue for weddings, social functions and various community events.
A number of competitions, cultural programmes and other events are also being organised by the municipality at the Koraput Town Hall as part of the celebrations. Students, young people and local artists are participating in these programmes, creating a festive atmosphere across the town. Such platforms are expected to encourage the younger generation to showcase their talents.
Behind these initiatives is the municipality’s vision of making Koraput more beautiful, clean, green and well-organised. The municipality is also working on plans for further development in different parts of the town and introducing additional civic facilities for residents.
Koraput Municipality Executive Officer Gyanajit Tripathy, a young officer, and Municipality Chairman Lalat Ranjan Sethi have shared their views on the development initiatives, upcoming civic facilities and the municipality’s future strategy for the overall development of Koraput.
The municipality is seeking to make Local Self-Government Day more than just a celebration by turning it into an opportunity to showcase development and positive change in Koraput. With new projects, beautification works, business facilities, social infrastructure and cultural programmes, the town is expected to present a new look during this year’s Local Self-Government Day.
