Massive Teacher Recruitment Drive for 45,000 Posts Underway in Odisha: CM

Bhubaneswar, April 24: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi stated that teachers not only impart education but also shape the character of students and guide them towards the right path in life. He made this statement while attending the centenary celebration of Chandrasekhar Government High School at Bodapalasa as the chief guest.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced a grant of ₹3 crore for the infrastructure development of the school. Additionally, under the Godabarisha Adarsha Prathamik Vidyalaya Yojana, ₹7 crore will be allocated, taking the total planned funding for the school’s development to ₹10 crore. He also directed the district administration to provide 7 acres of land for the school.
The Chief Minister further stated that after the formation of the new government, several initiatives and programs have been undertaken to bring significant changes in the education sector. Over the past one and a half years, around 20,000 teachers have already been recruited, and the process to appoint an additional 45,000 new teachers is currently underway. Moreover, 13,000 contractual teachers have been regularized.
He also highlighted that for the financial year 2026–27, more than ₹31,997 crore has been allocated to the School and Mass Education Department, which accounts for 10.3% of the total state budget.
Steps have been taken to establish one model primary school in every panchayat across Odisha, with work already initiated in 2,200 panchayats in the first phase.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Telkoi MLA Fakir Mohan Nayak, Patna MLA Akhil Chandra Nayak, and Keonjhar District Special Development Council Chairperson Mamita Nayak. Headmaster Nilambar Mahanta delivered the welcome address, while social worker Jagannath Singh proposed the vote of thanks.
