Nabarangpur District Administration Steps Up Focus on Water Infrastructure as Collector Inspects Indravati Reservoir and Khatiguda Dam, Orders Detailed Planning for Riverbank Restoration

Nabarangpur,Oct 19 [UDN}: Nabarangpur District Collector Madhumita visited the Indravati Reservoir and Khatiguda Dam to assess the current condition of the dam infrastructure and review maintenance requirements and related development activities within the dam premises. During the inspection, she examined key issues concerning infrastructure upkeep, the impact of heavy rainfall and the need for comprehensive development along both banks of the river.

During the visit, the Collector also reviewed the issue of pending salaries of 46 outsourced employees engaged under the dam authorities. Officials informed her that a file seeking approval from the Finance Department had already been submitted for the payment of 10 months of outstanding salaries to these employees. The authorities stated that the pending dues would be released as soon as the necessary financial approval was received.

Officials also briefed the Collector on various problems that had emerged in the dam area due to heavy rainfall. The discussion focused on the challenges affecting the area and the need for appropriate measures to address infrastructure-related concerns and ensure the smooth implementation of necessary maintenance and development works.

Following the inspection and review meeting, the District Collector directed the concerned authorities to prepare a comprehensive Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the repair and overall development of both banks of the river and submit it to the concerned department for further consideration and necessary action.

She also advised the officials to expedite the follow-up process regarding the release of pending salaries to the 46 outsourced employees. The authorities were instructed to closely monitor the progress of the proposed development initiatives and ensure that necessary steps were taken without undue delay.

The visit highlighted the administration’s focus on improving infrastructure around the Indravati Reservoir and Khatiguda Dam, addressing issues arising from heavy rainfall, and ensuring the timely resolution of employee salary arrears. The preparation and submission of the DPR is expected to provide a structured basis for planning the proposed riverbank repair and development works, subject to the necessary departmental approvals.
