New Measures to Ensure Hassle-Free Jagannath Darshan for Elderly and Divyang Devotees

Puri, Oct 7 [UDN}:The Jagannath Temple, Puri administration is introducing special facilities to make darshan easier and more convenient for elderly and Divyang devotees.

Construction of a ramp and railing from the Gumuti area of the North Gate to the Kurma Bedha has already been completed. The facility is intended to enable elderly devotees and persons with disabilities to move more safely and conveniently within the temple premises.

In addition, trained volunteers will be deployed to assist elderly and Divyang devotees. The volunteers will help devotees reach the Nata Mandap or Jagamohan, depending on their requirements.

Shree Jagannath Temple Administration Chief Administrator Dr. Aravind Kumar Padhee said that an online system and mobile application are being developed for availing the facility. During the initial trial phase, up to 50 elderly and Divyang devotees per day will be able to access the service through the online mechanism.

To arrange the required trained volunteers, the Chief Administrator has written to the Puri Collector and Chairman of the District Red Cross Society. Discussions have also been held regarding the deployment of volunteers from the Indian Red Cross Society and St John Ambulance.

Facilities at Gundicha Temple

Meanwhile, the Shree Gundicha Temple was reopened to the public from September 30. Arrangements have been made by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration, district administration and police to ensure orderly darshan for devotees.

The Gundicha Temple also has several facilities for elderly and Divyang devotees, including free darshan, wheelchairs, volunteer assistance and a ramp at the Nata Mandap.

The temple administration has stated that ensuring that all devotees can have a smooth and hassle-free darshan of the Chaturdha Murti remains one of its key priorities.
