Bhubaneswar, Aug 11 [UDN}:The State Cabinet has approved a proposal of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment to extend the “Popularisation of Agricultural Machinery, Equipment and Diesel Pump Sets” scheme for another five years.
The decision is aimed at further strengthening the agricultural sector by encouraging farmers to adopt modern agricultural machinery, equipment and other mechanised farming technologies. The continuation of the scheme is expected to provide farmers with greater access to essential agricultural implements and improve the efficiency of farming operations.
Under the extended scheme, farmers will continue to be encouraged to use modern machinery and equipment for various agricultural activities, including land preparation, sowing, cultivation, harvesting, irrigation and other farm-related operations. The availability and adoption of appropriate agricultural machinery can help reduce dependence on manual labour, save valuable time and improve productivity.
The scheme is also expected to play an important role in promoting farm mechanisation across the state, particularly by making modern agricultural equipment more accessible to farmers. The extension for another five years reflects the government’s continued emphasis on improving agricultural practices, reducing cultivation costs and enhancing the overall economic well-being of the farming community.
