Bhubaneswar, July 20 (UDN): Egg prices in Odisha have increased due to rising demand, higher exports, and other market factors, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Gokulananda Mallik said.
The Minister informed that eggs are currently being sold at around Rs 9 per piece in the state, while retail traders are procuring eggs at nearly Rs 7.15 per piece. He attributed the price rise to increased market demand and growing egg exports from the state.
The Odisha Government has set an ambitious target of producing around 2 crore eggs daily to strengthen supply and meet the growing requirements of consumers.
The government is also focusing on expanding poultry production, improving supply chains, and supporting farmers and poultry producers to ensure a stable egg market.
The developments highlight the growing importance of Odisha’s poultry sector in meeting domestic demand and contributing to the state’s agricultural economy.
