Bhubaneswar, Aug 21 [UDN}:The foundation stone has been laid for the Centre of Excellence in Electric Vehicle Technology at the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Mathili, Malkangiri district, Odisha. The state government is set to establish the advanced Centre of Excellence at an estimated cost of ₹4.08 crore, with the objective of strengthening technical education and providing students with specialized, industry-oriented training in the rapidly emerging field of electric vehicle technology.
The foundation stone was laid by Shri Sampad Chandra Swain, Minister for Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education, Government of Odisha. The proposed centre is expected to provide modern training facilities and practical exposure to ITI students in areas related to electric vehicles, including emerging technologies, maintenance, servicing, electrical systems and other technical skills required by the growing EV industry.
The initiative is aimed at enhancing the employability and technical capabilities of young people in the region while creating opportunities for them to acquire skills aligned with the changing requirements of the automobile and electric mobility sectors. The establishment of the Centre of Excellence at Mathili Government ITI is also expected to contribute to the development of skilled manpower and promote advanced vocational education in the tribal and comparatively remote areas of Malkangiri district.
