Bhubaneswar, June 20 (UDN): In a significant move aimed at streamlining apartment registrations and ensuring greater transparency in the real estate sector, the Odisha government has issued a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the registration of apartments across the state.
The Revenue and Disaster Management Department has framed the SOP to simplify the registration process, eliminate procedural ambiguities and safeguard the interests of apartment buyers.
Under the revised guidelines, the registration of apartments will be carried out only after verifying the legal status of the property, approved building plans and other mandatory documents. Developers and promoters will be required to furnish all relevant approvals and clearances from the competent authorities before executing sale deeds.
The SOP also lays emphasis on digitisation of records and integration of registration-related data to ensure accuracy, transparency and ease of access for stakeholders. The move is expected to curb irregularities in apartment transactions and reduce disputes arising out of incomplete or improper documentation.
The initiative is expected to bring greater clarity and efficiency to the apartment registration process and further improve governance in the state’s real estate sector.
The government has directed all district registrars and sub-registrars to strictly adhere to the new SOP with immediate effect.
