Odisha Takes Step Towards Inclusive Urban Governance with Draft Reservation Plan for 35 Civic Bodies

Bhubaneswar, July 18: The Odisha Government has released the draft reservation list for chairperson posts in 35 urban local bodies across the state, initiating the process for ensuring broader representation in municipal leadership.

The draft notification, issued on July 15, proposes reservation categories for chairperson positions in different urban local bodies. The move is aimed at strengthening participatory governance and providing equitable opportunities for representation at the grassroots level.

The release of the draft list allows citizens and stakeholders to examine the proposed reservations and share their views or objections as per the prescribed procedure. Authorities will consider the feedback before finalising the reservation arrangements.

The initiative reflects the state government’s focus on transparent decision-making, inclusive administration, and empowering communities through effective urban governance.

The final reservation list will be announced after completion of the review process and other necessary formalities.
