Malkangiri, July 21 [UDN}: During the sacred Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath at Malkangiri district headquarters, Odissi dance director Deepak Majhi was felicitated by the Utkal Sammilani, Malkangiri District Branch for his outstanding contribution to promoting Odissi dance.
Under the guidance of Dr. Saroj Kumar Dash, the Dream Dance Group presented a captivating Odissi dance performance before Lord Jagannath’s chariot. The performance featured 17 child and teenage artists, who showcased their talent in front of thousands of devotees. The group has been presenting Odissi dance during the Rath Yatra continuously for the past four years.
On this occasion, Utkal Sammilani organized a felicitation ceremony where Deepak Majhi and all the participating dancers were honoured with mementos and certificates of appreciation. The honours were presented by Utkal Sammilani President Prof. Dushmanta Kumar Jena and Advisor Prakash Chandra Pattnaik, who wished the artists continued success and growth in preserving Odisha’s rich cultural heritage.
The graceful performances by the young dancers captivated the audience and received widespread appreciation from parents, devotees, and thousands of spectators who had gathered to witness the Rath Yatra. The colourful Odissi presentation added a special cultural charm to the festival celebrations.
