Ojan Utsav 2026: Reaching Every Child, Even in the Most Remote Villages of Odisha

Bhubaneswar, July 2 (UDN): The Government of Odisha, through the Department of Women & Child Development, has launched the first phase of Ojan Utsav 2026 under Mission Poshan 2.0 (Poshan Abhiyaan) from 1 July to 25 July 2026. The statewide campaign aims to ensure comprehensive growth monitoring of children below five years of age, with a special focus on those living in remote, tribal, and cut-off areas.

Ojan Utsav is a dedicated growth-monitoring initiative that measures the height and weight of children to assess their nutritional status. The campaign seeks to identify children affected by Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) at an early stage, enabling timely intervention through nutrition and health services.

This year’s campaign places renewed emphasis on reaching the most inaccessible villages across Odisha. Frontline workers, including Anganwadi Workers, ICDS Supervisors, and community-level functionaries, are visiting remote habitations to ensure that every eligible child is covered. Their efforts reflect the Government’s commitment to equitable access to health and nutrition services for all children, irrespective of geographical barriers.

Unlike routine growth monitoring, Ojan Utsav is conducted under the direct supervision of ICDS officials to ensure accurate anthropometric measurements and reliable data collection. The height and weight records are uploaded in real time to the Poshan Abhiyaan digital platform, facilitating prompt identification of vulnerable children and enabling immediate follow-up support.

The campaign is being organized across more than 72,000 Anganwadi Centres throughout the state. The data collected during Ojan Utsav will support evidence-based planning, strengthen nutrition interventions, and enhance the delivery of child development services at the grassroots level.

Speaking on the occasion, officials from the Department of Women & Child Development emphasized that the campaign is not merely a data collection exercise but a mission to safeguard the health, growth, and future of every child in Odisha. By extending services to the farthest and most underserved communities, Ojan Utsav reinforces the state’s commitment to ensuring that no child is left behind.

The Department has appealed to parents and caregivers to bring all eligible children to their nearest Anganwadi Centre during the campaign period and cooperate with frontline workers to make Ojan Utsav 2026 a success.

“Healthy Children, Strong Odisha” remains the guiding vision of Ojan Utsav 2026 as the state continues its efforts to build a healthier and well-nourished future for every child.
