Political Tensions Rise in Kotia as BJD Protests Andhra Pradesh Elections and Demands Protection of Odisha’s Territorial Interests, Raising ‘Andhra Go Back’ Slogan

Bhubaneswar,  Oct 26 [UDN}:The long-standing border dispute over Kotia has intensified following Andhra Pradesh’s announcement that it will conduct elections in the region on November 3. Opposing the move, a 16-member delegation of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) visited Kotia and raised the slogan “Andhra Go Back,” asserting that Kotia belongs to Odisha and will remain an integral part of the state.

The BJD team strongly objected to Andhra Pradesh’s decision to hold elections in the disputed border region, reiterating its stand on protecting Odisha’s territorial rights and sovereignty. The delegation’s visit and protest have brought renewed attention to the sensitive inter-state boundary dispute and the political tensions surrounding Kotia.

Meanwhile, Koraput Sub-Collector Fabi Rashid visited several villages in the Kotia region to assess the prevailing situation on the ground. During the visit, she interacted with local residents, reviewed the situation and gathered information about developments in the area.

The parallel developments, including the BJD’s protest and the Sub-Collector’s field visit, have highlighted the growing importance of administrative vigilance and political engagement in Kotia. Attention is now focused on the steps the Odisha Government may take to address the situation, safeguard the state’s interests and resolve the continuing border dispute.
