Puri Railway Station Holds Anti-Terror Mock Drill to Enhance Rath Yatra Security

Puri, July 7 (UDN): Ahead of the annual Rath Yatra, security agencies on Tuesday conducted a comprehensive anti-terror mock drill at Puri Railway Station to assess emergency preparedness and enhance security arrangements for the festival.

The exercise was aimed at evaluating the coordination among various security forces and emergency response agencies, ensuring their ability to respond swiftly and effectively to any potential security threat during the influx of pilgrims.

With lakhs of devotees expected to visit Puri for the Rath Yatra, the mock drill simulated emergency scenarios to test operational readiness, evacuation procedures, and inter-agency coordination. Personnel from multiple departments participated in the exercise as part of efforts to strengthen the overall security framework.

Officials said the drill forms part of the extensive security preparations being undertaken to ensure the safety of devotees, railway passengers, and the general public during one of Odisha’s largest religious gatherings.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to maintaining a robust security environment throughout the festival and urged the public to cooperate with security personnel and follow all advisories issued during the event.
