Rainfall Set to Increase Across Odisha from August 22 Under Influence of Fresh Low-Pressure System

Bhubaneswar: Aug 21 [UDN}:Odisha is likely to witness another spell of increased rainfall as a fresh low-pressure area is expected to develop over the region. According to the latest weather forecast, the formation of the low-pressure system could lead to a gradual strengthening of the southwest monsoon over the state.
Rainfall activity is expected to increase across several parts of Odisha from August 22, with many districts likely to experience light to moderate rain and thunderstorms. Some areas may also receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, depending on the movement and intensification of the system.
The weather system is expected to influence atmospheric conditions over Odisha and bring more moisture-laden winds towards the state. As a result, rainfall is likely to become more widespread from August 22, particularly in coastal, southern and northern districts.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) is expected to closely monitor the movement of the developing system and issue district-wise warnings wherever necessary. People living in low-lying and flood-prone areas have been advised to remain alert, especially in districts that have already experienced heavy rainfall and flooding.
The renewed spell of rain could also lead to a further rise in water levels in rivers, reservoirs and other water bodies in vulnerable areas. Local administrations are likely to remain prepared to deal with any situation arising from heavy rainfall, waterlogging or localized flooding.
Residents are advised to keep track of official weather updates and follow the instructions issued by the district administration and disaster-management authorities as the situation develops.
