Retired Teacher Ravindranath Haldar Brings New Life to Barren Land, Creating a Green and Beautiful Environment Through Years of Dedicated Effort

Nabarangpur: Aug 14 [UDN}:A remarkable example of love for nature and environmental conservation has emerged from Badakumari village under Umerkote Block of Nabarangpur district. Retired teacher Ravindranath Haldar has transformed barren and unused land into a lush green landscape filled with trees, flowers, vegetables, medicinal plants and several rare species.
Haldar’s love for trees began in 1975, when he was studying in Class V. Since then, he has devoted nearly five decades to planting and nurturing trees. Whenever he finds vacant land, he collects saplings and plants them with care. His household premises, farmland and surrounding areas are now filled with dense greenery.
He has also transformed a 60-cent plot of ancestral land in the village into a mini forest. His efforts have created a diverse natural habitat featuring fruit-bearing, flowering, ornamental and medicinal plants.
Through his persistent initiative, Ravindranath Haldar has not only beautified his village but has also inspired people to value and protect nature. His green initiative stands as a meaningful legacy for future generations, demonstrating how one individual’s dedication can bring a smile to the village environment and create harmony between people and nature.
