Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister emphasized that handloom is not just an economic activity but a symbol of Odia identity, pride, and tradition. From the days of ancient maritime trade to today’s global fashion platforms, Odisha’s weaving traditions have consistently reflected excellence, spirituality, and cultural richness.
He noted that the handloom sector is a pillar of national heritage and plays a key role in sustaining rural livelihoods. Through the Handloom Development Scheme, the government aims to uplift the socio-economic status of weavers across the state, ensuring they receive the support and recognition they deserve.
The “EKATA” fair brings together weavers, designers, entrepreneurs, and customers, creating a vibrant platform for showcasing traditional handwoven textiles while encouraging innovation and market expansion.
The Chief Minister concluded by stating that such initiatives are essential to preserve traditional crafts while also empowering the artisans who uphold them.
