Visitors Flock to Nandankanan Zoological Park to Experience Unique Safari Rides and Conservation Initiatives

Bhubaneswar, Mar, 23:  With the possibility of an intense heat wave ahead and unbearable heat already being felt since February, the authorities of Nandankanan Zoological Park have taken special measures to ensure the safety and comfort of animals and birds.
Extensive arrangements have been made for the animals housed in the zoo.
Preparations have begun to keep all 328 enclosures cool.
These enclosures house 4,150 animals and birds belonging to 178 species.
Bamboo screens and thatched coverings have been installed over each enclosure to reduce heat.
If temperatures rise further, ice blocks will be placed inside the enclosures.
Most herbivorous animals will be given cucumbers, watermelons, and cooling drinks.
Carnivorous animals like tigers and lions will be provided meat preserved with ice using special cooling methods.
Water ponds will also be covered to keep the water cool.
Separate water arrangements have been made in the elephant enclosure.
The zoo authorities are closely monitoring the situation to protect the animals from the harsh summer heat.
