State Revenue Authorities Introduce Detailed Heatwave Action Plan with Focus on Early Warning Systems, Emergency Response, and Citizen Safety Measures

Bhubaneswar, April. 29:  A video conference meeting has been held by the Revenue Minister with District Collectors in this regard. Heatwave shelters will be constructed in areas experiencing extreme heat. Arrangements will be made for drivers on roads, including rest spaces, ORS, and drinking water. Instructions have been issued to ensure that ambulances reach within 20 minutes if required. District Collectors have been given authority to declare school holidays in areas where temperatures are rising significantly. Provision has also been made for compensation in case of death due to heatstroke. The Minister said that financial assistance will be provided within 24 hours of reporting a heatstroke-related death.
The post also includes a critical remark suggesting skepticism about the actual implementation of these measures, alleging that such announcements may remain only on paper and questioning the use of public funds.
