According to the latest IMD bulletin, the monsoon has withdrawn from Sundargarh and Bargarh districts and adjoining areas of western Odisha as part of its ongoing retreat across eastern and central India.

The line of monsoon withdrawal currently passes through Supaul, Ranchi, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Bijapur, Hyderabad, Belagavi and Panjim, among other locations.

Monsoon Likely to Exit Odisha Soon

The IMD said atmospheric conditions are becoming increasingly favourable for the southwest monsoon to retreat from more parts of eastern India and the northern peninsula.

Further withdrawal is also expected from several parts of northeast India during the next three to four days, according to the weather agency.

With the retreat progressing steadily from western Odisha, the southwest monsoon is expected to withdraw completely from the state within the next few days.

The development marks the gradual conclusion of Odisha’s four-month-long southwest monsoon season and the transition towards the post-monsoon weather pattern.

The withdrawal of the monsoon is likely to bring a gradual change in weather conditions across the state, with rainfall activity generally expected to decline as the system moves further away from Odisha.
