Nabarangpur, June 11: A meeting regarding the Rabi paddy procurement process was held at the Ashok Mehta Conference Hall in the District Collector’s office under the chairmanship of District Collector Dr. Maheshwar Sai.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Magistrate (General) Dr. Pramod Kumar Prusti, Chief District Agriculture Officer Sudhir Ranjan Behera, DRCS Sarat Chandra Panigrahi, and CSO Debashish Mohanty.
During the meeting, the District Collector directed the DRCS to take necessary action against those LAMPS (Large-sized Adivasi Multipurpose Cooperative Societies) involved in the registration of non-paddy land. He emphasized that paddy should be procured only from eligible registered farmers.
He further instructed officials that if any farmer is found fraudulently bringing Kharif season paddy to the mandi for sale during the Rabi procurement season, such farmers should be identified, investigated, and blacklisted accordingly.
Discussions were also held on strictly following government guidelines during procurement, ensuring adequate tarpaulin arrangements for paddy storage, and procuring only FAQ (Fair Average Quality) standard paddy.
The District Collector also instructed departmental officials to ensure that millers participating in the KMS 2025-26 Rabi paddy procurement season do not engage in any irregular or fraudulent procurement activities.
Field-level officials were directed to take immediate action on all irregularities and complaints.
The mandi supervisory officers were instructed to keep close watch on irregular activities occurring at mandi points, especially incidents related to paddy transactions involving traders, agents, millers, middlemen, or other intermediaries.
