Government Moves to Expand Urban Housing Options Through Large-Scale Rental Housing Programme

Bhubaneswar, June 20: {UDN}:  The government will provide rental housing in urban areas.

The Urban Development Minister has shared information regarding a new policy for rental housing.
The government has introduced a plan to make rental homes available in cities.
A large number of people are migrating to the capital city and other urban centers, but many of them are unable to find affordable accommodation.
As a result, slum settlements are expanding. To prevent the growth of slums, the government plans to provide adequate rental housing facilities.
Under the housing scheme, the government will construct residential units and offer them on rent to eligible residents.
Rental housing projects will be developed in cities across the state.
Vacant and unused houses will be identified and made available for rent at affordable rates.
Objective of the Initiative
The proposed rental housing policy aims to address the increasing demand for affordable accommodation in urban areas. With rapid urbanization and migration to cities for employment, education, and better opportunities, many people struggle to secure decent housing. By providing affordable rental homes and utilizing vacant properties, the government hopes to improve living conditions, reduce the growth of informal settlements, and ensure planned urban development. The initiative is expected to benefit workers, students, low-income families, and other residents seeking affordable housing in cities.
