Major Housing Push for Urban Poor Under PMAY-Urban Bandhu, Government Focuses on Expanding Access to Affordable and Secure Homes for Eligible Beneficiaries

Bhubaneswar,  Aug 17 [UDN}:The Odisha   Government is set to launch Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban)–Bandhu with the objective of providing affordable housing facilities to economically weaker and poor families living in urban areas.
The State Cabinet has approved the proposal submitted by the Housing & Urban Development Department for implementation of the scheme.
The scheme will be implemented with an estimated expenditure of ₹1,615 crore over two years. Under the initiative, the government plans to significantly expand access to affordable housing for eligible urban families.
Over the next five years, the scheme envisages the construction of around 30,000 affordable housing units, along with 10,000 affordable rental houses and transit housing facilities.
The initiative is expected to provide greater housing security to low-income urban families and support the government’s broader objective of ensuring safe, affordable and dignified housing for all.
