Bhubaneswar, Oct 7 [UDN}: There is a specific time frame for producing quality fish seed at different stages of fish farming.
In a nursery pond, hatchlings or spawn generally develop into fry within 15 to 20 days. However, in a rearing pond, more time is required for the fry to grow into fingerlings, and subsequently for the fingerlings to develop into larger advanced fingerlings suitable for stocking in grow-out ponds.
Proper management of each stage, including adequate nutrition, water quality and suitable pond conditions, is essential for healthy growth and the production of quality fish seed.
