Bhubaneswar, June 25 (UDN): The Odisha government has announced the distribution of free school bags to students studying from Sishu Vatika to Class III in government schools across the state.
The initiative has been undertaken by the Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) as part of efforts to strengthen foundational education and ensure essential learning support for young students.
According to an official communication, school bags will be supplied by the Odisha Small Industries Corporation (OSIC) to designated block points. These bags will then be distributed to schools for onward delivery to eligible students under the School and Mass Education (S&ME) and Scheduled Tribes & Scheduled Castes Development (SSD) departments.
Two types of school bags have been arranged based on student categories. Size-I bags will be provided to students from Sishu Vatika to Class I, while Size-II bags will be distributed to students of Class II and Class III, ensuring age-appropriate allocation.
District Education Officers-cum-District Project Coordinators (DEO-cum-DPCs) have been directed to ensure timely receipt of materials as per approved indents and to facilitate smooth distribution across all government schools.
Officials have also been instructed to monitor the process closely and report any discrepancies to OSEPA headquarters immediately for necessary action and resolution.
The government stated that the initiative aims to support early childhood and primary education by providing basic learning resources and improving school preparedness among young learners.
