Bhubaneswar, March 27: Apollo Cancer Centre (ACC) has launched ColFit, a colorectal cancer (CRC) screening initiative, to address the rising number of CRC cases in India. The program was introduced during an event at the ACC premises, attended by Apollo Hospitals Bhubaneswar COO Alok Srivastava and several senior medical experts.
The ColFit program focuses on early detection and prevention, offering a comprehensive screening process, including the non-invasive Faecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) to detect early signs of CRC. The initiative also includes colonoscopies for high-risk individuals and regular follow-ups.
Srivastava emphasized that the program is designed to offer both awareness and a clear path from screening to treatment, ensuring better outcomes. Experts like Dr. Sethi and Dr. Das highlighted the importance of early detection, as well as adopting healthier lifestyles, to reduce the burden of CRC in India. The program aims to lower the number of late-stage diagnoses and improve survival rates.
