7th Kalabhoomi Utsav Celebrates Odisha’s Handloom and Craft Heritage

Bhubaneswar, March 27: The 7th Kalabhoomi Utsav, a five-day festival celebrating Odisha’s rich handloom and handicraft traditions, concluded on Wednesday. Organized by the Cooperation and Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts (HTH) department from March 22 to 26, the event also marked the foundation day of the Odisha Crafts Museum – Kalabhoomi.

At the closing ceremony, HTH Minister Pradeep Bal Samanta stressed the importance of preserving Odisha’s handloom legacy, calling it the cultural heart of the state. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting local artisans and weavers.

HTH Commissioner-cum-Secretary Poonam Tapas Kumar discussed welfare initiatives for artisans, while Textiles & Handlooms Director Prem Chandra Choudhary highlighted Kalabhoomi’s significance as a symbol of Odisha’s craftsmanship. The Minister also presented awards to competition winners during the event.
