Starting from April 1, the Ayushman Bharat scheme was expected to roll out in Odisha. However, due to delays in card preparation and software integration, the scheme’s launch has been postponed. The decision was made in a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi on March 12.
The scheme will be integrated with Odisha’s existing ‘Go Bandhu Jana Aarogya Yojana’ (JJAY). Both the state and central governments have signed an agreement for this. While the card distribution process is delayed, beneficiaries will continue to receive medical services using their Aadhaar cards in the meantime.
The government assured that once fully implemented, all eligible families will receive Ayushman Bharat cards, ensuring comprehensive healthcare coverage. Despite the delay, the authorities have confirmed that there will be no issues accessing healthcare services once the program is fully operational.
