18th March 2025: Vedanta Aluminium, in partnership with BALCO Medical Centre (BMC) from Raipur, recently organized a cancer screening and awareness campaign under its Project Arogyam – Cure with Care. The initiative was held at Primary Health Centres in Belpahar (Jharsuguda district) and Bileimunda (Sundargarh district).
The BMC’s mobile cancer detection van offered vital screenings such as Mammography, Pap Smear Test, and Brush Cytology. Patients who needed further treatment received free medical care, along with accommodation for one accompanying attendant.
A total of 182 local residents benefited from the program. Jitender Munda, Assistant Block Development Officer of Hemgir, praised the drive, stressing the importance of early cancer detection, particularly for those unable to afford expensive medical tests and treatments.
