5th February 2025: The 16th Finance Commission, led by Dr. Arvind Panagariya, began a four-day visit to Odisha on February 4 to discuss financial matters with state officials. The commission will review the state’s memorandum, which requests Rs 12.56 lakh crore for the next five years.
Odisha is seeking special consideration from the commission to support its ‘Vikasit Odisha’ goal by 2036 and demands additional funds for disaster management and infrastructure development.
During their visit, the commission members toured the State Tribal Museum and Kalinga Stadium and are set to visit Dhauli Gram Panchayat.
