Koraput, Sept. 21 (UDN): A daring mobile snatching attempt in Odisha’s Koraput district ended in dramatic fashion on Monday after two fleeing suspects crashed their motorcycle and were caught by local residents.
The incident took place in Jeypore town, where two women labourers were allegedly robbed of their mobile phones while heading to work.
Snatching Turns Into Capture
According to reports, the women were walking near Panchanan Mandir Chhak around 10 am when two youths on a motorcycle approached from behind, snatched their mobile phones and sped away.
However, their escape was cut short near Tarini Chhak, where the motorcycle reportedly lost balance.
Locals Overpower Fleeing Duo
The bike crashed after hitting a small child, throwing both riders onto the road. Witnessing the accident, local residents quickly surrounded the two youths, overpowered them and prevented them from escaping.
The suspects were subsequently handed over to the police.
Police Launch Investigation
Police have taken both accused into custody and initiated an investigation into the alleged mobile snatching incident.
Authorities are also looking into the circumstances surrounding the crash and the injuries sustained by the child during the incident.
