Bhubaneswar,June 20: {UDN}: A total of 707 remote villages in Odisha will soon get 4G mobile towers. The state government has issued urgent instructions to district collectors for the transfer of land required for the project.
The initiative aims to strengthen digital connectivity in remote and inaccessible areas. District collectors have been directed to facilitate land transfer for tower installation at 707 new locations across 24 districts.
The Electronics and Information Technology Department’s Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) has written to district collectors, instructing them to provide the necessary government land at the earliest. Approximately 2,000 square feet of land will be handed over in advance to BSNL for each tower site.
Collectors have also been directed to issue No Objection Certificates (NOCs) promptly to expedite the process. Construction of towers at these 707 locations is currently awaiting land allotment.
Special priority has been given to tribal and hilly districts such as Mayurbhanj and Sundargarh, where improving telecommunications infrastructure is considered crucial for social and economic development.
