20th March 2025: Odisha’s Chief Minister, Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, recently conducted a review of the state’s preparations for the upcoming summer heatwave. He urged district authorities to closely follow the government’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure timely and effective action during the heatwave. He highlighted the importance of widespread public awareness, encouraging the use of TV, radio, newspapers, and social media to keep people informed and safe.

The Chief Minister also stressed the need to implement SOPs for schools and anganwadi centers, ensuring they operate in the early morning hours to avoid the midday heat. In addition, he instructed officials to quickly install and repair hand pumps in areas facing water shortages.
To further support the public, he directed the energy department to ensure there are no power cuts between 9 PM and 6 AM, providing relief during the night-time heat.
