Cost-Cutting and Sustainable Transport Practices Get Priority as Usha Padhee Urges Officials to Embrace Ride-Sharing and Vehicle Pooling in Departmental Operations

Bhubaneswar,May 27:  Usha Padhee has advised officials to adopt ride-sharing and vehicle pooling practices as part of cost-cutting and fuel-saving measures in the Housing and Urban Development Department.

She emphasized the need for conscious, disciplined, and economical use of government vehicles. Referring to the Prime Minister’s appeal for fuel conservation and efficient resource management, the department’s Additional Chief Secretary urged officers and employees to minimize unnecessary vehicle usage.

Officials have been encouraged to use “vehicle pooling” or “ride sharing” during official meetings, inspections, field visits, and government tours. The advisory also discourages the use of government vehicles for short-distance travel or for personal convenience.

The initiative aims to reduce fuel consumption, cut administrative expenses, and promote environmentally responsible governance. The department believes that shared transportation can improve efficiency while also supporting sustainable urban mobility practices.

The advisory reflects the government’s broader focus on financial prudence, energy conservation, and responsible utilization of public resources.
