Cuttack Gold Trader Attacked, INR 36 Lakh Cash Stolen; Police Begin Probe

Cuttack, July 13 (UDN): A gold trader was allegedly attacked and robbed of ₹36 lakh in cash by unidentified miscreants in Cuttack, prompting police to launch an investigation into the incident.

The incident took place near the Taladanda Canal Bridge on National Highway 16 on Sunday night when the trader, Pinki Shah, was travelling with an employee towards the OMP bus stand to board a bus to Kolkata for business purposes.

According to the complaint, a group of six assailants intercepted the scooter and attacked the trader before fleeing with a bag containing the cash. The victim sustained injuries during the assault and was immediately shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, for medical treatment.

The incident has caused concern among local residents, with authorities stepping up efforts to identify and apprehend those involved. Police have recorded the victim’s statement and begun a detailed investigation into the robbery.

A team of officials is reviewing CCTV footage from the highway and nearby locations to gather evidence and trace the suspects. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.

Authorities have assured that all possible measures are being taken to ensure the safety of citizens and bring the accused to justice.
