New Delhi, 24th March 2025: The Delhi government has announced a new initiative to combat pollution by halting the fuel supply to older vehicles from April. Petrol pumps across the city will be equipped with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras to identify vehicles that exceed the allowed age limit.
As per the National Green Tribunal’s guidelines, petrol vehicles older than 15 years and diesel vehicles older than 10 years will no longer be allowed to refuel. This move is part of Delhi’s efforts to curb pollution and reduce emissions from outdated vehicles.
Manish Sisodia, Delhi’s Environment Minister, confirmed that all of Delhi’s 500 petrol pumps will implement this measure, aiming to improve air quality and promote the use of newer, more environmentally friendly vehicles.
