Malkangiri, May 05:: On the occasion of May Day, also known as International Workers’ Day, the Odisha Union of Journalists—one of the largest journalists’ associations in the state—organized protests across all 30 districts of Odisha under the direction of its President, Prasanna Mohanty.
The demonstrations were held in front of the respective District Collectors’ offices, pressing for three long-pending demands of journalists: pension, official recognition, and safety/security for journalists. Along with the protests, a memorandum containing these three demands was submitted to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, through the District Collectors of each district.
In this context, the Malkangiri district unit of the Odisha Union of Journalists also staged a dharna in front of the District Collector’s office under the leadership of its President, Dev Prasad Das.
