Bhubaneswar, July 20 [UDN}:: In a major step to improve the quality of school education and enhance access for students, the Odisha Government has approved the upgradation of 67 primary schools into upper primary schools across the state.
The School and Mass Education Department has granted approval in accordance with the prescribed norms and guidelines. A formal communication has been sent to the Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) directing it to undertake the necessary steps for implementation.
The department has instructed OSEPA to ensure the development of essential infrastructure, deployment of teachers, and completion of all other related formalities in the upgraded schools. It has also asked the authority to submit a compliance report on the progress of the work.
According to the approved list, the district-wise distribution of the schools is as follows:
Balangir – 3
Balasore – 2
Bargarh – 7
Cuttack – 1
Deogarh – 2
Dhenkanal – 12
Ganjam – 1
Jagatsinghpur – 2
Jajpur – 7
Jharsuguda – 1
Kalahandi – 5
Kendrapara – 1
Koraput – 2
Malkangiri – 2
Mayurbhanj – 4
Nayagarh – 3
Nuapada – 6
Puri – 3
Rayagada – 1
Sambalpur – 1
Sundargarh – 1
The School and Mass Education Minister, in a social media post, stated that this initiative will enable students in these areas to pursue upper primary education in nearby schools without facing difficulties, thereby improving educational access and reducing the need for long-distance travel.
