Bhubaneswar, Aug 4 [UDN}: In a major boost to higher education and agricultural research, the government has announced a significant financial assistance package for students pursuing postgraduate (PG) and doctoral (PhD) programmes at the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology. Under the new initiative, the government will cover the students’ educational expenses and provide a generous monthly stipend ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹15,000, ensuring that deserving students can continue their studies without financial hardship.
The decision is expected to encourage more students to pursue advanced education in agriculture, horticulture, veterinary science, fisheries, forestry, agricultural engineering, and other allied disciplines offered by OUAT. By reducing the financial burden on students and their families, the scheme aims to promote academic excellence, strengthen research capabilities, and develop a skilled workforce to support the state’s agricultural growth and rural development.
According to the announcement, eligible postgraduate students will receive a monthly stipend of ₹10,000, while eligible PhD scholars will be provided ₹15,000 per month. In addition to the stipend, the government will also bear the academic expenses associated with their studies, making higher education more accessible and affordable.
The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to investing in quality education, innovation, and scientific research. It is expected to motivate talented students to pursue advanced research, contribute to agricultural innovation, and address emerging challenges in the farming sector through modern technology and sustainable practices.
The move has been widely welcomed by students, academicians, and the agricultural community, who believe that the financial support will not only ease the economic burden on scholars but also inspire more young researchers to contribute to the development of agriculture and allied sectors in Odisha.
