New Delhi:April. 27: In a major relief for central government employees, the Union Cabinet chaired by Narendra Modi has approved a 2% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners.
With this revision, DA and DR have been raised from 58percent to 60percent. The revised rates will be implemented retrospectively from January 1, 2026.
This decision is expected to benefit around 5.05 million central government employees and 6.83 million pensioners.
The increase in DA is based on the 12-month average of the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI) for industrial workers.
