Umerkote, Sept 8 [UDN}: Preparations have begun for the grand and orderly celebration of the Dussehra festival of Maa Bhandar Gharani, the presiding deity of the region. A preparatory meeting was held under the chairmanship of temple committee president Uma Kanu Shadangi.
The meeting discussed various aspects of the upcoming Dussehra celebrations in detail. Special emphasis was placed on conducting the rituals according to traditional customs and ensuring that devotees face no inconvenience during darshan and worship.
The committee also discussed strengthening arrangements for lighting, crowd management, security, discipline, drinking water, transportation and devotee facilities within and around the temple premises.
A large number of devotees from different parts of Nabarangpur district visit Maa Bhandar Gharani during Dussehra. Therefore, the temple committee has initiated preparations to ensure that this year’s festival is conducted peacefully, systematically and with devotion and grandeur.
Priest Narasimha Tripathy and other members of the temple committee were present at the meeting. The committee appealed for the cooperation of residents of the district and devotees to make the traditional festival successful and memorable.
