Bhubaneswar, July 4: The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued a warning for heavy rainfall in Khordha, Bhubaneswar, and Cuttack over the next 24 hours. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (30–50 km/h) are likely to affect normal life and farming activities.

The forecast is linked to a cyclonic circulation and low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal. Localized heavy showers are expected, alongside moderate to light rain in most areas.
In response, local authorities and emergency services have been advised to stay alert. Farmers are urged to take precautions to safeguard crops, especially after rain-related losses in December 2024.
Meanwhile, the ongoing Bahuda Yatra in Puri may also be impacted. Public access to the Gundicha Temple will be restricted from 6 PM on Friday for cleaning and rituals. Devotees have been advised to stay cautious during the festivities.
