Bhubaneswar, Odisha, 3rd July: A low-pressure system formed over the Bay of Bengal has now moved inland and is currently situated over southern Chhattisgarh and surrounding areas, where it is manifesting as a cyclonic circulation. This weather pattern is gradually shifting southward and is contributing to widespread rainfall across various regions of Odisha.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon remains active under the influence of this system, and the state is likely to continue experiencing rainfall over the next five days. While the intensity of rainfall is expected to slightly decrease on July 3 and 4, fresh showers are predicted to pick up momentum again starting July 5.
Meteorological experts warn that the reactivation of the system could bring moderate to heavy rainfall to many parts of the state, particularly in coastal and southern districts. Residents are advised to stay updated with local weather alerts and take necessary precautions, especially in flood-prone or low-lying areas.
This continued wet spell may also benefit agricultural activities by improving soil moisture levels during the key cropping season, though localized waterlogging cannot be ruled out in some areas.
