28th May 2025: A low-pressure system has formed over the northwestern Bay of Bengal, raising the likelihood of moderate to very heavy rainfall across several districts in Odisha over the coming days. Weather forecasts indicate that the system may intensify further as it gradually moves northward, potentially developing into a depression within the next 24 hours.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that this weather disturbance could lead to significant rainfall activity in the state through May 31. Additionally, the southwest monsoon winds are expected to advance into Odisha by tomorrow, which may further enhance the rainfall intensity.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have advised residents, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas, to remain cautious and stay updated on official weather alerts.
