Malkangiri , Aug 21 [UDN}:A new Centre of Excellence in Electric Vehicle Technology will be established at the Government ITI in Mathili, Malkangiri, at an estimated cost of ₹4.8 crore. The foundation stone for the project was laid by Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Shri Sampad Chandra Swain.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening technical education and creating new opportunities for students and youth in the emerging electric vehicle sector. The Centre of Excellence is expected to provide advanced training and practical exposure in electric vehicle technology, helping students acquire industry-relevant skills and improving their employability.
During the programme, a new Engineering Drawing Laboratory, an online classroom and a conference hall were also inaugurated at the institute. These facilities are expected to enhance the quality of technical education and provide students with better learning and training infrastructure.
A high-level review of industrial development and skill development activities in the district was also conducted during the visit. The discussions focused on strengthening skill-based education, improving technical infrastructure and creating better employment opportunities for local youth.
The establishment of the Electric Vehicle Technology Centre of Excellence marks an important step towards modernising technical education in Malkangiri and preparing students for the rapidly growing electric mobility industry.
