Major Step Toward Census 2027 as House Listing and Numbering Exercise Starts in Nabarangpur

Nabarangpur, April 20: The preliminary phase of Census 2027, namely house listing and house numbering, was successfully launched in Nabarangpur district on April 16, 2026.
The entire process is being carried out under the leadership and guidance of District Collector and Principal Census Officer Dr. Maheshwar Swain. The district administration has made all necessary arrangements to ensure the work is completed in a timely and systematic manner.
From April 16 to May 15, data on the number of houses numbered is being sent on an hourly basis to the Census Office in Bhubaneswar. This enables regular monitoring of progress and timely implementation of necessary measures.
During the house numbering process, senior nodal officers are conducting field visits to supervise the work. Charge officers, including Tehsildars and executive officials, are also present to ensure the quality and accuracy of the process.
As Census 2027 is one of the largest and most important administrative exercises in the country, the district administration is making coordinated efforts at all levels to ensure its successful implementation.
So far, 22,729 houses have been counted.
A total of 2,369 officers and staff have been deployed for the census work in the district.
