Malkangiri, Sept 24 [UDN}:: A district-level review meeting was held at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) district office in Malkangiri under the leadership of Fisheries, Animal Resources Development and Animal Husbandry Minister and Malkangiri district in-charge Gokulananda Mallik.
The programme was organised under the leadership of district BJP president Ashok Kumar Parida, with Minister Gokulananda Mallik attending the meeting as the chief guest. At the beginning of the programme, the dignitaries paid floral respects and lit the ceremonial lamp before the portraits of BJP founder Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee and party ideologue Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, formally inaugurating the meeting. District president Ashok Kumar Parida delivered the welcome address.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Mallik spoke about the ‘Seva Sankalp’ programme, which is being organised from September 17 to October 17. He described various activities being undertaken as part of the campaign, including programmes aimed at reaching beneficiaries and community-level initiatives.
The minister also spoke about the policies and achievements of the Narendra Modi-led Central Government. Referring to the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, he claimed that despite international tensions, there had not been a corresponding rise in domestic cooking gas and fuel prices, which he attributed to what he described as good governance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking about the BJP’s organisational preparations, Mallik said greater emphasis would have to be placed on the ‘My Booth, Strongest Booth’ programme to strengthen the party organisation and prepare for future elections.
He further claimed that after the BJP came to power at the Centre in 2014, the Narendra Modi government had brought about major changes in areas including agriculture, healthcare, transportation and food security. He also credited the Central Government with progress in combating Left-Wing Extremism and claimed that the roots of Naxalism had been substantially weakened.
Referring to the BJP government in Odisha, Mallik said the procurement price of paddy had increased by ₹800, while farmers were also receiving better prices for pulses and other agricultural crops. He highlighted schemes such as PM-KISAN, CM-KISAN and the Mukhyamantri Ashirbad Yojana, and said that a total of 113 different government schemes had helped connect people with the development process.
He also highlighted the Subhadra Yojana, saying that the scheme was intended to promote the financial empowerment and self-reliance of women.
On healthcare, the minister criticised the previous government’s Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana, alleging irregularities and claiming that the scheme had benefited only certain institutions. In contrast, he said the Ayushman Bharat scheme had been providing healthcare support to elderly people and other beneficiaries irrespective of their economic status. He also stated that around 29,000 medical establishments had been registered under the scheme.
Speaking about education, Mallik said steps had been taken to improve the education sector in Odisha, including the establishment of Godabarish Model Schools in the state.
The meeting was attended by Malkangiri MLA and District Planning Board Chairman Narsingh Madkami, former Chitrakonda MLA Dambaru Sisa, Special Development Council Chairman Ganga Sodi, office-bearers and presidents and secretaries of various organisational units, district general secretaries including Manik Lal Mandal Chakraborty and Nabaghana Lokei, treasurer Sanjay Sarkar, MLA representatives Nihar Ray, Sabita Mishra and Beni Kartul, media in-charge B. Srinivas Patra, social media in-charge Deepak Saha, IT in-charge Rajya Kishore Mandal, and more than 200 party workers and office-bearers.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Minister Gokulananda Mallik planted a sapling on the BJP district office premises.
The meeting focused on reviewing organisational activities, discussing ongoing public outreach programmes and highlighting various government welfare and development initiatives among party workers and representatives at the district level.
